I understand that normaly when a gear breaks, or melts it will have one spot where its damaged at. How does it go all the way around a gear?

Check this link the transmission did not have any gear lubricant during the pump service test. Called a wrecker to tow then home.

I bet it "didn't make any noise" either. A little gear lube would go a long way in preventing that from happening. The pump packing may have been leaking for a long period of time and filled the gear case with water pushing the gear lube out the vent on top. Hence no lubrication. I had a Darley three months ago with this very issue.
