I think I know were your gpoing COO. What happens if you buy new tires and the pressure changes due to different manufacturer, guess you got to spend an extra 100 on new Cat's eye or whom ever system you have or buy. Gettin kinda ridicules that no one can use a tire gauge any more and that I guess would include cars with that tire monitoring stuff, another tool to buy!!

I use Crossfire on my newer trucks. I like the window that lets the boys glance and see that they have tires that are aired up. Plus, the central filling of the tires is a plus...clip the chuck on and watch the eye to see when it's full. The down side is that it takes a few extra minutes to take the tires on and off the vehicle for service.

The main problem I have with that system is when I have to change tires on the interstate. That can lead to another 5-10 minutes in the danger zone, of which I am not very comfortable to be in to begin with. The FD SOP/G is that they stop moving immediately as soon as they have a flat. So if they get one on the interstate, guess what. I have to replace it there.
On a side note, I'll be opening a new thread concerning tires on Monday or Tuesday. Might be some good info for you guys. COO |
