Default A/C on Dash Custom Cabs

Hello All,

Has anybody have trouble with a Pierce Dash Cab with the A/C system just stops cooling. Full of feron and i have hear to put a filter in the the low side line. I heard that would help my problem.
Anybody has any ideas let me know.

Check your heater core and see if it is hot to the touch. Alot of times the heater valve goes bad and the heater core gets hot water through it still. The evaporator is right against it so it would defeat the cooling attempts of the a/c. Also check your fans on the roof. They also go bad quite a bit.

Depending on the year of your Pierce Dash's there are circuit breakers either behind the drivers seat(1999ish) or in the power distribution on the tunnel(2002ish). I have seen circuit breakers and relays in these locations fail.

Could you provide a little more information about the Rig? Also could you tell us what happens when the AC stops? Is the rig going down the road? Is it sitting in the station? Is the Load Manager activating and shutting it off? Is the compressor running? Are the fans on the roof turning?

Also, FYI I have had to replace most every part on our fleet of 10 Dash's. I've found that companies like ThermoKing can order RED-Dot parts much cheaper than Pierce.

Is your rig equipesd with a multiplex system, if so there are relay mounted in the cab and in the #4 vim cabient. Also pierce has suction screens installed in the a/c compressor, they will become cloged and cut off the flow to the compressor.
